ABOUT US

It was back in 2014 when the Manningham Interfaith Network and the Victorian Police got together to run the first Manningham Respect Round Robin. The aim was simple, do something fun that could bring together young people from all backgrounds, cultures and religions. By fostering more understanding of and respect for difference our community can grow stronger and better together.

Sport, more specifically soccer (football), seemed the most natural way to do it. Sport encourages collaboration and teamwork, promotes fairness and togetherness, creates opportunities for new friendships and connections. It challenges assumptions, prejudices and sterotypes, bringing people together who might not otherwise get the chance.

By 2015 the event had got the support of much of the Manningham community, so the second incarnation was even bigger, co-run by volunteers and organisations including Doncaster Rovers Football Club, the Manningham City Council, Manningham YMCAManningham Rotary and Bounce Mentoring.

2016 will see the event cement itself as one of the most important community sporting events in North East Melbourne.
